What to watch out for after prolonged use of a closed cooling tower

2021-10-21

In today’s industrial production, the waste heat generated during manufacturing processes often goes untreated—and unfortunately, this leaves many feeling helpless. That’s precisely when heat-exchange equipment becomes essential. Meanwhile, as demand continues to rise in modern life, the manufacturing sector in this area is currently undergoing steady growth, driven by ongoing technological advancements and evolving market needs. In response to these challenges, cooling towers have emerged as a convenient and practical solution. And if consumers follow the correct operating procedures for closed-loop cooling towers, they’ll undoubtedly be able to make even better use of this efficient technology.

Close the inlet and outlet valves

The number of closed-circuit cooling towers used has a direct relationship with the overall efficiency of the system. If the cooling tower fans are turned off, the inlet and outlet valves can also be shut to prevent water flow when the tower is not in use. Since subway stations are located in relatively poorly ventilated underground environments, cooling towers play a crucial role in removing excess heat from the station, ensuring passenger comfort. At the same time, these towers effectively reduce noise generated by water spraying during operation. During installation, care should be taken to construct either a concrete or steel-structure foundation according to the cooling tower’s design drawings. Horizontal steel plates are pre-embedded above these foundations, and the elevation of each foundation point must be precisely aligned at the same level. Additionally, the internal maintenance accessways within the cooling towers provide technicians with convenient access for performing repairs and servicing the equipment.

  Carefully review the operation

After starting work, it’s essential to carefully inspect the operation of the closed-circuit cooling tower. If cold water is flowing through, promptly maintain the cooling tower’s inlet valve. Since components like the air conditioning system’s condenser are prone to short circuits during operation, regular inspections are necessary throughout use. In fact, ensuring the cooling system functions properly and correctly is crucial to prevent dust buildup in these areas, which could otherwise block the cooling tower’s normal operation. When installing fibrous materials such as the cooling tower’s casing and base, screws are typically used to secure them in place—preventing the bottom base from deforming under pressure—and the base is then fixed according to a specific, sequential order. Importantly, all these installation procedures must be carried out in a controlled environment.
