How to properly use and maintain a medium-frequency melting furnace

Proper use, correct operation, and meticulous maintenance of medium-frequency melting furnaces are crucial for ensuring their safe operation.
1. Regularly clean the dust inside the power cabinet using alcohol, as the data center is equipped with a dedicated frequency converter cleaning system. However, the actual smelting and forging environment is far from ideal—dust levels are extremely high. Moreover, near operating equipment such as acid pickling and phosphating units, corrosive gases are abundant. When dust accumulates heavily, it can damage equipment components, reduce insulation strength, and even cause frequent surface discharges on parts. As a result, regular cleaning is essential to prevent malfunctions and ensure reliable operation.
2. Regularly inspect the connections of the medium-frequency melting furnace tubes. When tap water is used as the cooling source, it tends to form scale buildup, which can reduce cooling efficiency. If plastic tubes crack due to aging, they should be replaced promptly. In summer, using both tap water and well water for cooling often leads to condensation. Consider installing a circulating water system; in severe cases, the system should be shut down immediately.
3. Regularly inspect and maintain equipment, checking bolts and nuts on all components. If the contacts of the contactor relay are found loose or faulty, repair or replace them promptly. Avoid overuse to prevent more serious accidents.
4. Regularly inspect the load cables for proper functionality and ensure reliable insulation. When operating a medium-frequency melting furnace, promptly remove any oxide layers that may have formed on the induction heating coils, and replace the thermal insulation lining as needed. After replacement, carefully verify on-site whether the insulated inverter is properly loaded. High failure rates can easily go unnoticed, making it crucial to strengthen load maintenance. Preventing failures and ensuring stable inverter power supply are essential steps in maintaining the equipment’s smooth operation.
5. When the cooling water quality is poor, key components should be regularly replaced or cleaned. For instance, the water-cooled jacket in the cooling control cabinet is large in size but offers poor cooling performance, which can easily lead to SCR damage.
